9 Highly Effective Mobile Data Saving Tricks!
Of
course we want to enjoy our data subscription longer! But most of the times, we
get shocked as soon as we realize our data got used up easily without even
knowing it. Here are some proven effective tricks that will help you enjoy your mobile data for a longer period of time.
1. Use 3G to slow down consumption
Your
internet speed doubles when you are using 4G compared to when you are using 3G.
So if you think you don’t need a super high speed internet, you might want to
go down to 3G so your mobile data consumption will slow down as well.
2. Restrict background data
Background
data happens when Applications consume data even when not in use. Examples of these are: feeds updating, weather
widgets and so on. To
disable background data:
Android > Settings > Data
usage > Restrict Background Data or for individual apps in Settings > Apps (depending
on which version of Android you have)
or
Android>Settings > Accounts > Google >
select the account and then un-check the services you don't want to sync
automatically.
iOS> Settings > Notifications, and turn
off cellular data off for any app in Settings > Mobile data.
3. Disable auto-play on Facebook and Twitter
You don’t actually need to view all videos you see on Facebook because it also consumes your data. In order to avoid this, simply disable the auto-play both on FB and twitter. This will save you a lot of mobile data.
Twitter> Settings > General > Video autoplay
Facebook> Settings > Video >Autoplay

map, news, weather, read books and many more. There are thousands of offline
apps available for no matter what use you need.

Like
background data, auto-updates consume big portion of your mobile data. To
disable this:
Android>Google Play>Hamburger Icon>
Settings> Auto-Update Apps> Do not auto-update apps
You can also choose to
auto-update only when connected to WiFi by selecting Auto-update apps
over Wi-Fi only in the same pop-up.
iOS> Settings > iTunes & App
Store, then scroll down and turn off the Use Mobile Data toggle to make
your phone does automatic updates on Wi-Fi only
6. Set data alerts and limits
This
puts you in total control of your mobile data. You can always stop or slow down
your usage as soon as you are notified
based on the limit you set.
Android>Settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile Data>Data
Usage>Set mobile data limit
7. Compress your data
There
are available apps that help decrease mobile data usage by up to five times. The
Onavo
Extend app (Android, iOS) for example is
designed to compress your data. Although it does not work on voice and video
data, it does compress images and texts. Some of its features include providing
a breakdown which apps are using up your data and helps you decide on image
quality and amount of data savings.
8. Compress Chrome pages
If
you are using Google Chrome web browser, this will work for you. The data Saver
feature compresses the webpages before loading it to the Google Chrome Web
browser. This will allow you to save a lot of your mobile data. To enable this:
Google Chrome>Settings>Data
Saver
9. Switch mail sync to manual
When you receive and email that has an
attached file to it, that will also consume you mobile data. In order to get
rid of those, you can simply set your e-mail Sync into manual. If the Auto-Sync
icon does not appear on you quick start page, you can do this by:
Settings>Accounts>Email App>Email
Address>Account settings>Uncheck “Sync Email”
Doing
all these simple steps will definitely extend the time you can enjoy your data
