6 highly productive habits while stuck on traffic

Productivity tips while on traffic

We all know that the worsening traffic situation we are in today is not going to be solved immediately. So instead of complaining, ranting about it over social media which is utterly pointless, maybe it would be best that we rather think about how to turn this into something that will works for all of us. Maybe, if we put ourselves in this kind of perspective, we will realize that actually, its not as bad as we think. That actually, the time we use on the road can actually be used for other relevant activities. I want to share six habits that can make you productive even during commute time.

1. Read your mobile Bible
We Christians know that the Bible is the Word of God. Given the reason that we are busy in work, school and at home that’s why we don’t have time to read the Bible, the time being in the middle of traffic  is a great opportunity to do so. Reading the Bible is very convenient nowadays since we only need to download and app and no more need for carrying a printed book. Reading your Bible is the most productive use of time. Not just that you will learn many things, but most importantly you are allotting time to read the Word of God and know more about Him. I believe this is the most important app you should have on your phone, so if you are reading this and you don’t have one, here is the download link for  your mobile Bible.

2. Read and respond to emails
This is a simple task but it also means a lot. Reading and responding to emails while you are on the go will boost your productivity for the day. Of course, there are emails that you can’t answer while commuting, so reserve them when you get to office or school. Building this habit will prevent you from missing important emails. Besides, people will appreciate your responsiveness to their request or question.

3. Enroll to an online course
There are hundreds of websites offering free tutorials and classes nowadays. Let us take advantage of it. Just type the right keyword on Google and you will instantly find a course or a training that suits your interest; be it learning to code, learning to write, learning a new language and etc. For me, I find Coursera  very educational. There are many free courses in this website but  if you don’t find the course you want, you can always look into other websites that offer online courses as well.

4. Catch up with friends
As time passes by, we have many friends and acquaintances that we miss talking to. For sure they will be very happy to receive any simple greeting from you since you have not seen each other for a long time. Take this time to make them feel did not forget them and still want to hang out with them if you have time. One important reason for this is you are updating your network at the same time. It is always great to know you have people around you whom you can collaborate with.

5. Brainstorm
When sitting or standing steady, it is easier to concentrate on a particular subject. The next time you are sitting on a taxi or bus going home, take that time to brainstorm on things that are important for you. What are you going to do for the weekend? Where can you earn some extra money?  What give are you going to give for your nephew’s birthday? What actions can you do to boost your sales? and many more. If you can, note down these ideas and keep them. You don’t know their importance until you will need them. The point is to use travel  time to generate ideas that can be used soon or in the long future.

6.  Listen or watch something educational and inspirational
Instead of doing the usual listening to music or watching movies while commuting, try to look for an audio or video that get your spirit motivated. For me, I find a lot of interesting inspirational  speeches and podcasts on YouTube that I listen to every time in am on the go. Or else, you can choose from thousands of highly educational documentaries on the internet based on your interest. Off course you can always watch any kind of video or listen to any kind of audio you want, but it is more advisable to find something that will inspire or teach you something.

  1. i'd love these sorts of tips. but can I suggest for a little?
CATCH UP term can be a lil' bit confusing, I suggest you may use the word(s) - CONNECT, BE CONNECTED, STAY CONNECTED though!
But the whole article is very helpful, thanks!
